I Thought Being Vegetarian Meant I Was Healthy… Until I Discovered Dairy Was Making Me Bloated

For years, I believed I was doing everything right.

I was vegetarian, I ate what I thought was a healthy diet, and I genuinely believed that avoiding meat automatically meant I was making better choices for my health.

Yet despite all of this, I constantly felt bloated.

My stomach would often feel uncomfortable, I experienced digestive issues, and no matter what I tried, I couldn't seem to understand why.

Looking back, I now realise I was focusing on the wrong thing.

The Assumption That Vegetarian Equals Healthy

Like many people, I associated being vegetarian with wellness.

I filled my plate with foods that I believed were healthy, but I never stopped to question some of the foods I was eating every single day.

One of those foods was dairy.

Milk, cheese, yoghurt and other dairy products had become a normal part of my diet. I never considered that they could be contributing to the symptoms I was experiencing.

The Missing Piece

It wasn't until I discovered the teachings of Medical Medium that I began looking at dairy differently.

According to MM, dairy can be a significant troublemaker for many people. It may contribute to digestive discomfort, mucus production, inflammation and make it more difficult for the body to function optimally.

The more I learned, the more I started questioning whether dairy could be playing a role in my own health challenges.

My Experience After Removing Dairy

Making the decision to remove dairy wasn't something I did overnight.

But once I committed to it, I began noticing changes.

The bloating that had become so normal to me started to improve.

I felt lighter.

My digestion felt calmer.

And perhaps most importantly, I realised that what I had accepted as "normal" wasn't normal at all.

For years, I thought feeling bloated was simply part of life.

Now I know that our bodies are constantly communicating with us.

Listening to Your Body

Everyone's journey is different, and what works for one person may not work for another.

However, if you're constantly struggling with bloating, digestive discomfort, mucus issues or unexplained symptoms, it may be worth taking a closer look at dairy and how your body responds to it.

Sometimes the foods we consume every day are the very things holding us back from feeling our best.

Final Thoughts

One of the biggest lessons I've learned on my wellness journey is not to assume something is healthy simply because society tells us it is.

I thought being vegetarian meant I was healthy.

What I didn't realise was that dairy was making me feel worse.

Removing it became one of the most important changes I made for my wellbeing, and it's a decision I've never looked back on.

If you're struggling with bloating or digestive issues, perhaps it's time to start asking a different question:

Could dairy be affecting you more than you realise? 💚🌿
